MICROCUFF® ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE HELPS PREVENT VAP
One of the leading causes of VAP (Ventilator Associated Pneumonia) is thought to be the micro- aspiration of secretions through the endotracheal tube cuff. Micro-aspiration of infectious secretions slip through the gaps of the endotracheal tube cuff seal. Conventional endotracheal tubes feature a PVC cuff that is 50 to 80 microns. The Cuff seal is the final barrier between secretions and the lungs.

KIMBERLY CLARK MICROCUFF®

ENDOTRACHEAL TUBES ARE DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE MICRO-ASPIRATION

While Microcuff® endotracheal tubes look like an ordinary endotracheal tube. The 10 micron polyurethane cuff membranes are substantially thinner than conventional PVC cuffs (50 to 80 microns).

This provides for better contact with the tracheal contour and a much better seal even at lower cuff pressures Cuff length and cylindrical shape of Microcuff® tubes are optimized for increased protection against fluid leakage.
